“Dimitrie Gusti” Village Museum

A space of silence and testimony, where wood, stone, and clay speak on behalf of an entire land.

On the shores of Lake Herăstrău, in the heart of Bucharest, a gateway opens into the rural memory of Romania. Here, every house, every porch, every wooden church preserves the echo of a life lived with purpose. From Maramureș to Oltenia, from Moldova to Dobrogea, the museum gathers over 70 traditional dwellings and constructions, carefully reassembled in a quiet ritual of continuity.

It is more than a museum — it is a living tapestry of gestures, crafts, and beliefs, a place where time settles gently, and the visitor becomes both witness and guest to a world that still breathes.
